Integrate Mo with Microsoft Teams to enable seamless access to recognition, Boosts, and occasions directly within Teams. This guide covers admin setup, user experience, and ongoing management.

Prerequisites:

  • Admin permissions in Mo

  • Microsoft Teams admin centre access

  • Microsoft Teams tenant ID

Integration Overview

What the Integration Enables

Core Functionality:

  • Receive Mo notifications directly in Teams

  • Create and respond to Moments from Teams

  • Participate in Boosts without leaving Teams

  • React and comment on content in Teams

  • View occasion celebrations and respond

Key Benefits:

  • Reduces tool-switching for users

  • Increases Mo engagement and adoption

  • Seamless workflow integration

  • Real-time notifications where users already work

Admin Setup Process

Phase 1: Link Teams Tenant to Mo

Step 1: Obtain Your Teams Tenant ID

  1. Open Microsoft Teams application

  2. Click the "..." icon at the end of the list showing your users

  3. Click "Get link to team" from the dropdown

  4. Copy the tenant ID - it appears after tenantId= in the URL

  5. Save this ID - you'll need it in the next step

Example URL format:

https://teams.microsoft.com/l/team/[team-id]/conversations?groupId=[group-id]&tenantId=[YOUR-TENANT-ID]

Step 2: Configure Integration in Mo

  1. Log into Mo with admin permissions

  2. Locate Microsoft Teams setup area

  3. Paste your tenant ID into the designated field

  4. Save the configuration

  5. Verify connection shows as active

Phase 2: Deploy Mo App to Users

Understanding App Permission Policies

Microsoft Teams uses app permission policies to control app access. Review your organisation's existing policies before proceeding.

Recommended Approach: Organisation-Wide Deployment

This method deploys Mo to all employees automatically without individual installation.

Step 1: Access Teams Admin Centre

  1. Navigate to App setup policies in Teams admin centre

  2. Sign in with Teams admin credentials

  3. Locate "App setup policies" in the navigation

Step 2: Configure Policy

  1. Select the policy that applies to your employees

    • For organisation-wide deployment: Select Global policy

    • For specific groups: Select relevant custom policy

  2. Click policy name to open configuration

Step 3: Add Mo as Installed App

  1. Under "Installed apps" section, click "Add apps"

  2. Search for "Mo" in the app catalogue

  3. Select Mo from results

  4. Click "Add" to include in the policy

  5. Save changes to the policy

Step 4: Pin Mo to Sidebar (Optional but Recommended)

  1. Scroll to "Pinned apps" section

  2. Click "+ Add apps" at the bottom

  3. Search for and add "Mo"

  4. Drag to position Mo in the desired sidebar order

  5. Save changes

Why pin Mo:

  • Increases visibility and discoverability

  • Reduces barriers to engagement

  • Encourages regular usage

  • Makes notifications more accessible

Step 5: Apply and Monitor

  1. Review policy settings before applying

  2. Click "Confirm" or "Save" to activate

  3. Monitor deployment progress

Technical Considerations:

  • Changes propagate within 24 hours typically

  • Some users may see changes sooner (varies by Microsoft Teams sync)

  • Users must restart Teams to see newly installed apps

  • Pinned apps appear in order specified in policy

Alternative Deployment: User-Initiated Installation

When to use this approach:

  • Pilot programmes with specific user groups

  • Gradual rollout strategies

  • Organisations with strict app approval processes

Process:

  1. Ensure Mo app is approved in your Teams app store

  2. Users can search for "Mo" in Teams app store

  3. Users click "Add" to install personally

User Setup and Account Linking

After Mo has been launched, users can then link their Mo account to Teams to receive notifications and interact with Mo content.

Account Linking Process:

  1. User opens the Mo app in Teams

  2. Mo bot sends a notification in Teams prompting user to link their account

  3. User clicks the link button in the notification

  4. User is redirected to Mo for authentication

  5. User returns to Teams with accounts linked

Technical Troubleshooting

Integration Not Working

Tenant ID Issues:

  • Verify tenant ID is correct

  • Check for extra spaces or characters when pasting

  • Confirm you copied the full ID after tenantId=

  • Re-copy from Teams and paste again

Connection Status:

  • Check connection shows "Active" in Mo integrations page

  • Wait 5-10 minutes after initial configuration

  • Clear browser cache and check again

  • Contact Mo support if status remains inactive

Users Not Seeing Mo App

Check deployment status:

  • Verify 24 hours have passed since policy change

  • Confirm user is covered by correct app policy

  • Check if user needs to restart Teams

  • Verify Mo app is in "Installed apps" list

Policy configuration:

  • Confirm Global policy (or relevant policy) includes Mo

  • Check if user group has restricted policies

  • Verify no conflicting permission policies exist

  • Review Teams admin centre audit logs

Users Can't Link Accounts

Common causes:

  • User doesn't have Mo account yet

  • User already linked to different Teams account

  • Browser blocking authentication redirect

  • Pop-up blocker interfering

Solutions:

  • Verify user has active Mo account

  • Check user's email matches both systems

  • Disable pop-up blockers for mo.work domain

  • Try incognito/private browsing mode

  • Clear Teams cache and retry

Notifications Not Appearing

User-level checks:

  • Verify account linking is complete

  • Check Teams notification settings

  • Ensure Teams app is running

  • Confirm user hasn't muted Mo notifications

System-level checks:

  • Verify integration is active in Mo

  • Check no system-wide notification blocks

  • Review Teams admin notification policies

  • Test with known working account

Performance Issues

Slow notifications:

  • Microsoft Teams sync delays (normal up to several minutes)

  • Check Microsoft 365 service health status

  • Verify network connectivity

  • Review Teams performance generally

Missing content:

  • Check user permissions in Mo

  • Verify privacy settings on Moments

  • Confirm user is intended recipient

  • Review notification delivery logs (contact support)
