Mo's occasion features help create a more connected workplace by celebrating important milestones in your colleagues' lives. This comprehensive guide explains how occasion celebrations work, what information is shared, and how to customise your privacy preferences to match your comfort level.
To protect privacy, only the day and month are shared for birthdays.
We never share the year of birth.
Understanding Mo Occasions
Occasions in Mo are designed to strengthen workplace relationships by ensuring that important personal milestones don't go unnoticed. The platform automatically tracks and celebrates two key types of special moments: birthdays and work anniversaries. These celebrations help foster a positive company culture where colleagues can acknowledge and appreciate each other's personal milestones and professional achievements.
If your organisation integrates Occasion data into the Mo platform, Mo will, by default, display occasion dates to help maximise participation and ensure celebrations reach the right people. As a special day approaches, Mo creates meaningful opportunities for colleagues to engage, offer congratulations and take part in the celebration.
We understand that not everyone wants to share their special occasions and that’s absolutely fine. If you’d prefer not to share, you can customise your preferences to opt out.
How Occasion Visibility Works
When occasion visibility is enabled, your birthdays and work anniversaries appear on Mo's homepage where all colleagues can see and interact with them and on your profile. This visibility serves multiple purposes: it reminds colleagues about upcoming celebrations, provides an easy way for team members to offer congratulations and creates natural opportunities for workplace bonding and recognition.
Occasion Email Notifications
The system sends occasion emails to relevant team members and managers, creating a comprehensive notification network that helps prevent special days from being overlooked.
Privacy and Personal Preferences
Mo recognises that personal privacy preferences vary significantly among individuals, and not everyone feels comfortable sharing personal milestone information in a workplace setting. The platform provides clear controls that allow you to opt out of occasion sharing while still participating in other Mo features normally.
Mo's privacy controls respect these diverse preferences without requiring detailed explanations.
Customising Your Occasion Visibility
To update your occasion visibility settings, click your profile picture in the top left corner of your Mo account. From the dropdown menu, select Settings, then choose occasions from the menu on the left side of the page.
Within your occasion options, you'll find the Visible to colleagues on Mo setting, which controls whether your occasions appear in colleague notifications, in home page displays and your profile.
To hide your occasions from colleagues, simply toggle the Visible to colleagues on Mo setting to the off position. Your occasions will remain private and colleagues will no longer receive automatic reminders about your special days.
Balancing Celebration and Privacy
Mo's occasion system is designed to enhance workplace culture while respecting individual privacy choices. Consider your personal preferences about workplace celebrations, your company culture around personal sharing and your comfort level with colleagues knowing personal milestone dates. You can always adjust these settings as your preferences or workplace relationships evolve.
