What Is Moments Shared

Definition

Moments Shared represents the total count of Moments (posts) that colleagues have created and shared on Mo.

What This Metric Measures

Engagement indicators:

  • ✅ How actively colleagues share experiences

  • ✅ Recognition culture strength

  • ✅ Platform adoption and usage

  • ✅ Connection levels across the organisation

Why it matters: Moments Shared serves as a leading indicator of how connected your organisation is becoming through using Mo.

What Counts as a Moment Shared

Included in the Count

Public Moments: Posts that appear on the public feed visible to all colleagues.

Private Moments: Posts shared discreetly, direct to specific colleagues' profiles.

All post types are counted:

  • Recognition posts

  • Celebration posts

  • Appreciation messages

  • Thank you posts

  • Team achievements

  • Personal milestones

Not Included in the Count

Currently, Moments Shared includes only content shared on feeds or profiles (posts).

Not counted:

  • Rewards sent (tracked separately in report generator)

  • Ideas shared (tracked separately in report generator)

  • Nominations made (tracked separately in report generator)

  • Comments on Moments

  • Reactions to Moments

Future expansion: Rewards, Ideas, and Nominations will be incorporated into the Moments Shared metric in a future update.

How Moments Shared Is Calculated

Basic Calculation

The metric totals all Moments posted to the Mo platform, including both public feed posts and private profile posts.

Formula: Total Moments Shared = All public Moments + All private Moments

Real-Time Accuracy

The count reflects the current state of content on Mo

When Moments are deleted:

  • Deleted Moments are removed from the total count

  • This ensures an accurate representation of active content

  • The metric always shows Moments currently on the platform

When users are suspended:

  • Moments from suspended users remain in the count

  • Content is still accessible on the platform

  • Only active, visible content is counted

Example Calculation

Scenario:

  • 500 public Moments posted on feed

  • 200 private Moments shared to profiles

  • 50 Moments later deleted

  • 2 users suspended (who posted 30 Moments total)

Total Moments Shared: 650 (500 public + 200 private - 50 deleted. Suspended user Moments still count as they remain visible)

Common Questions

Why did my Moments Shared count decrease?

Possible reasons:

  • Colleagues deleted Moments they posted

  • Duplicate or test Moments were removed

  • Inappropriate content was deleted by admins

The count always reflects current, active Moments on the platform.

Do private Moments count the same as public?

Yes. Both public feed Moments and private profile Moments are counted equally in Moments Shared.

What happens to Moments from departed employees?

If the user account is deactivated: Their Moments typically remain on the platform and continue to count in Moments Shared, preserving organisational recognition history.

If Moments are specifically deleted: They are removed from the count.

Policies vary by organisation. Check with your Mo admin for your specific approach.

Can I see Moments Shared by department or team?

Currently, Moments Shared is a platform-wide metric. For detailed breakdowns by department, team, or individual user, use the Report Generator in the Admin section.

Will this metric include Rewards and Nominations in future?

Yes. Rewards sent, Ideas shared, and Nominations made will be incorporated into an expanded Moments Shared metric in a future update, providing a more comprehensive engagement measure.

Best Practices for Moments Shared

Setting Realistic Expectations

For new Mo implementations:

  • Allow 2-3 months for habit formation

  • Focus on consistency over volume initially

  • Celebrate early adopters

For established Mo usage:

  • Maintain steady sharing rates

  • Prevent drop-off through regular engagement

  • Keep sharing fresh with new initiatives

  • Avoid forcing artificial inflation

Quality vs Quantity

Remember: Moments Shared measures volume, but quality matters too.

Encourage meaningful sharing:

  • Specific examples in recognition

  • Authentic appreciation

  • Detailed explanations of impact

  • Personal, heartfelt messages

Avoid:

  • Pressure to post for metrics' sake

  • Generic or formulaic Moments

  • Inflated numbers without substance

  • Gaming the system

For leadership:

  • Track as KPI for culture health

  • Include in engagement reporting

  • Use to demonstrate ROI of recognition programme

  • Share success stories based on growth

  • Identify departments needing support

  • Measure initiative effectiveness

  • Benchmark against goals

  • Model consistent recognition

  • Celebrate team milestones

  • Build sharing into team culture
