Rewarding Colleagues in Moments

Add monetary rewards to your recognition for extra impact

Attach rewards to Moments to elevate your recognition and provide tangible appreciation for outstanding work and achievements.

⚠️ Note: Only users with spending pot access can add rewards to Moments.

Before You Start

What You Need

  • Spending pot access granted by your Mo admin

  • Available budget in your assigned spending pot

  • Colleagues to reward who deserve recognition

Check Your Budget

Before creating a reward, verify your available funds:

  1. Go to Rewards → Your Spending Pots

  2. Check your remaining budget in your spending pot for this spending cycle

  3. Ensure you have enough funds for your planned reward amount


How to Add Rewards to Moments

Step 1: Create Your Moment

  1. Click Create a Moment

  2. Write your recognition message

  3. Tag the colleagues you want to reward using either:

    • @mentions (type @ followed by their name)

    • Tag icon in the top right to find individuals

    • Tag icon to use a Lists for multiple colleagues at once

Step 2: Add the Reward

  1. Look for Reward colleagues button in the bottom right

  2. Click Reward colleagues (only visible if you have spending pot access)

  3. Choose your spending pot from available options

  4. Select reward amount per person

  5. Review the preview showing spending pot details and total cost

  6. Click Confirm selection

Step 3: Verify and Share

  1. Check the reward button now shows "Rewarding X colleagues" (where X = number of people)

  2. Verify this matches the number of people you tagged

  3. Choose privacy settings:

    • Public: Visible to all colleagues in feeds

    • Private: Only visible to you and reward recipients

  4. Notify managers (optional) - they won't receive rewards but can see the recognition

  5. Click Share


Understanding Reward Visibility

Who Sees Reward Amount

Can see the reward amount

  • The reward issuer

  • The recipient of the reward can view the reward amount from 'Your Rewards'

  • Administrators

Cannot see the reward amount

  • All other colleagues on the platform

Reward Moment Appearance

  • Looks like regular Moments to most colleagues

  • Shows Reward Banner at the top of the moment

  • Moment has the same engagement options (reactions, comments) for everyone

  • Notifications with rewards work in the same was as Moments without rewards.

  • Moments notifications with rewards will state "You've been tagged in a Reward!"


Reward Approval Process

When Rewards Need Approval

Your reward may show that it requires approval if:

  • Insufficient budget remaining in your spending cycle

  • Annual budget exhausted for your spending pot

  • Company funds depleted

  • Approval is required for this reward type or amount

Pending Rewards Process

  1. Moment and reward go to approval queue instead of posting immediately

  2. Mo Admins at your organisation will review the reward request

  3. You then receive a notification when it has been approved or rejected

  4. Moment will be posted once reward is approved

Managing Reward Moments

Revoking Rewards

To cancel a reward after posting:

  1. Delete the Moment

  2. Copy the error code from the deletion message

  3. Send the error code to Mo support to revoke the attached reward

  4. Mo Support will process the reward revocation

Deleting A Rewarded Moments

⚠️ Important: If you delete a Moment with a reward then this will only delete the moment posted but not the reward.

To delete the posted moment:

  1. Find your Moment

  2. Click the three dots menu

  3. Select Delete


Troubleshooting Common Issues

Reward Button Not Visible

Possible causes:

  • You don't have spending pot access

  • Your spending pot access has been revoked

  • System permissions haven't updated yet

Solutions:

  • Contact your Internal Mo admin to verify spending pot access

  • Check if your access has specific restrictions or limits

  • Log out and back in to refresh permissions

Insufficient Budget Error

When this happens:

  • Your spending cycle budget is exhausted

  • The reward amount exceeds remaining funds

Solutions:

  • Check your remaining budget in Your Spending Pots

  • Only reward amounts that fit available budget cycle

  • Wait for the next spending cycle to reset

  • Contact your admin about budget increases if applicable

Reward Stuck in Approval

Possible reasons:

  • Amount exceeds auto-approval limits

  • Spending pot requires manual approval for all rewards

  • Budget verification needed

What to do:

  • Wait for your internal Mo admin to review and approve

  • Contact your internal Mo admin if urgent

  • Check if you received any rejection notifications

Wrong Number of Recipients

If reward count doesn't match tagged colleagues:

  • Double-check all tagged users in your Moment

  • Remove and re-add tags if necessary

  • Verify your Lists contain the expected members

Moment Was Posted Without Reward

This happens when:

  • The reward was not attached to the moment

  • You did not tag any users

  • Technical error during reward processing

Solutions:

  • Delete the moment posted as no rewards is attached and start again

  • Look for error notifications or messages

  • Contact Mo support if issue persists after the correct steps were taken and the reward should have been attached

Reward Amount Guidelines

  • Be consistent with similar achievements

  • Consider team equity when rewarding multiple people

  • Match reward to achievement significance

  • Stay within budget to enable regular recognition

Recognition Message Tips

  • Be specific about what they accomplished

  • Include impact of their work

  • Make it personal and genuine

  • Connect to company values when relevant

Privacy Considerations

  • Use public Moments to inspire others and build culture

  • Use private Moments for sensitive achievements or gifting during special circumstances

  • Consider team dynamics when choosing visibility

  • You can add managers for notifications as they are not included in the rewards
